Anti-Aging Effects of Nine-Time Processed Polygonum Multiflorum Thunb with Different Drying Methods on D-Galactose-Induced Aging Mice
Objective:To explore the effects of nine-time processed Polygonum Multiflorum Thunb with different drying methods on D-galactose-induced aging mice. Methods:Fifty ICR mice were randomly di-vided into blank control group, model group, positive control group,nine-time repeated steaming and sun-drying group, and nine-time repeated steaming and stove-drying group.Aging model was established through intraperitoneal injection of D-galactose(0.5 g·kg-1)every day.Mice in each group were intragastri-cally administered with drugs respectively for 12 weeks. For mice in each group,Morris water maze exper-iments were used to test their spatial memory and learning ability;the indexes of thymus and spleen were calculated;the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in serum and homogenates of whole brain, liver and kidney were determined;liver and kidney functions were detected. Results:Compared with the normal control group, the model group showed signifi-cant decrease in spatial memory, learning ability, body mass and organ index;the levels of SOD and GSH-Px in serum and homogenates of whole brain, liver and kidney decreased significantly, while the MDA levels increased significantly;the serum levels of ALT,ALP,AST,CREA and UA increased marked-ly.Compared with the model group, the drug intervention groups significantly improved spatial memory and learning ability, significantly increased body mass and organ index, improved oxidative stress induced by D-galactose,increased SOD and GSH-Px levels, inhibited the increase of MDA contents, and normalized liver and kidney functions. The indexes of mice between the groups of two drying methods were similar with no significant difference. Conclusion:The water decoction of nine-time processed Polygonum Multiflo-rum Thunb with different drying methods has anti-aging effects on D-galactose-induced aging mice, and there is no significant difference in anti-aging effects between the two drying methods.
