Anticholinergic Burden:Risk Evaluation and Progress in Clinical Research
Medications with anticholinergic activity(MACs)are broadly used in general population, such drugs are supposed to generate accumulated risk of adverse drug reactions(ADRs),including cognitive impairments, falls, cardiovascular events,long-term all-cause mortality, etc.,especially in the elderly people.Currently, risk quantification of MACs is achieved by calculation methods such as average daily dose, cumulative dose measure and cumulative anticholinergic burden by foreign researchers so as to provide evidence-based norms to MACs-related pharmaceutical intervention. This article summarizes the advance of MACs risk evaluation and intervention,so as to provide reference for the drug safety in the elderly and special patient populations domestically.
