Analysis and management of off-label drug use in obstetrics Department of Lianyungang Maternal and Child Health Hospital
In order to promote rational medication in obstetrics and reduce medication risks for preg-nant and postpartum women,8733 outpatient prescriptions and 4812 inpatient medical records were select-ed from the Obstetrics Department of Lianyungang Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January to June 2021.The results of review on off-label drug use and evidence-based medicine evaluation showed that 1074 outpatient prescriptions were off-label drug use(12.30%),including 89 unreasonable prescriptions(8.29%);2993 cases(62.20%)of inpatient medical records were off-label drug use,of which 898 cases(30.00%)were unreasonable;There were 20 types of drugs that were off-label drug use,of which 16 were supported by evidence-based medicine.After the formulation and implementation of the"Regulations and Procedures for the Management of Off-label Drug Use"and the review process for off-label drug use,the re-evaluation results from January to June 2022 showed that the unreasonable proportion of outpatient pre-scriptions and inpatient medical records for off-label drug use decreased to 2.51%(31/1235)and 9.03%(182/2016),respectively.
