The value of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio combined with tumor markers in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer
Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR)combined with tumor markers carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)and carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9)in colorectal cancer(CRC).Methods The clinical data of 205 CRC patients(CRC group)and 347 colorectal benign polyps patients(control group)were retrospectively analyzed. The differences of CEA,CA19-9 and NLR before operation or colonoscopy were compared between the two groups.ROC curve was drawn to analyze the diagnostic value of CEA,CA19-9 and NLR alone or in combination for CRC.Results The levels of CEA,CA1 9-9 and NLR in CRC group were higher than those in control group(P<0.01).The levels of CEA,CA19-9 and NLR were correlated with tumor invasion,lymph-node metastasis, distant metastasis and vascular invasion in CRC patients(P<0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC,sensitivity and specificity of CEA,CA19-9 and NLR combined detection in the diagnosis of CRC were higher than those of CEA,NLR or CA19-9 detected alone and the combined detection of CEA and CA19-9(P<0.05).Conclusion CEA,CA19-9 and NLR are increased in CRC patients, and the combined detection of the three indexes can improve the diagnostic efficiency of CRC.
