Objective To explore the efficacy of different surgical approaches and their effect on sexual function in the treatment of complex pelvic fracture in males. Methods A total of 77 male patients with complex pelvic fracture were divided into three groups of A(using modified Stoppa approach,20 cases),B(using ilioinguinal approach,31 cases)and C(using combined anterior and posterior approach,26 cases). The international index of erectile function 5(IIEF-5)was used to evaluate sexual function one year after surgery. The pelvic function was evaluated by Majeed score. The postoperative complications were observed. Results There were no significant differences in IIEF-5 score, incidence of erectile dysfunction and postoperative complications among the three groups(P>0.05).The IIEF-5 score was higher in group A than that in group C[(88.15±9.54)points vs.(79.58±11.89)points](P<0.05).Conclusion There is no significant difference in the effect of different surgical approaches on sexual function in the treatment of complex pelvic fracture in males. The modified Stoppa approach has better therapeutic effect than combined anterior and posterior approach.
