Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation(TTNS)in the treatment of urge urinary incontinence(UUI)in elderly women. Methods A total of 120 elderly women with UUI were randomly divided into two groups with 60 cases each.Group C received pelvic floor muscle training(PFMT)and bladder training(BT)three times per day,5 days a week for 6 weeks.Group A was treated with additional TTNS twice a week for 6 weeks on the basis of group C.The bladder diary, international consultation on incontinent questionnaire short form(ICIQ-SF)score,incontinence quality of life questionnaire(I-QOL)score and patients'subjective global satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results All 120 patients completed 6 weeks of treatment. After treatment, the parameters of 3-day bladder diary,ICIQ-SF score and I-QOL score of both groups were improved(P<0.05),which were improved more obviously in group A(P<0.05).The subjective global satisfaction effectiveness rate in group A was higher than that in group C(98.3%vs.80.0%)(P<0.05).Conclusion On the basis of PFMT and BT,additional TTNS treatment can effectively improve the symptoms and quality of life in elderly women with UUI.
