Objective To observe the effect of standardized application of topical preparations on the efficacy of patients with senile skin pruritus.Methods A total of 36 patients with senile skin pruritus were given the guidance of standardized application of topical preparations,which included health education,medication guidance and psychological care.The intervention was conducted once a week for 8 consecutive weeks,with each session lasting 15-30 minutes.The changes in application level,skin dryness,itching severity,stratum corneum moisture content and transcutaneous water loss(TEWL)before and after intervention were compared.Results Compared with before intervention,the application level of the patients in using topical preparations was increased,the skin dryness on the upper limbs,lower limbs and back and itching severity were improved,and the moisture content of the skin stratum corneum was increased after intervention(P<0.05),while TEWL did not show any significant differences(P>0.05).Conclusion The guidance of the standard application of topical preparations in patients with senile skin pruritus can improve the application level of topical preparations and improve the dry skin and itching symptoms.
