Relationship between anterior vaginal wall nerve distribution and prolapse degree in patients with pelvic organ prolapse
Objective To analyze the relationship between anterior vaginal wall nerve distribution and prolapse degree in the patients with pelvic organ prolapse(POP).Methods Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of protein gene product 9.5(PGP9.5)in the mucosal tissues of anterior vaginal wall in 138 patients with POP underwent surgical treatment.According to PGP9.5 expression,25 cases were weakly positive(group A),77 cases were positive(group B)and 36 cases were strongly positive(group C).The POP-related indexes and prolapse degree of the three groups were compared. Results The positive expression of PGP9.5 was found in the subepithelial mucosa and lamina propria of anterior vaginal wall in POP patients. There were no significant differences in the POP-related indexes among the three groups(P>0.05).The values of Ba and C points in groups of A and B were greater than those in group C(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion Anterior vaginal wall nerve distribution in POP patients is correlated with the prolapse degree. The milder prolapse degree was found in the POP patients with dense anterior vaginal wall nerve distribution.
