Objective To investigate the effects of surround-mammary areola incision surgery on postoperative complications and breast aesthetics after benign breast tumor excision. Methods The clinical data of 210 female patients underwent benign breast tumor excision were retrospectively analyzed.According to the different surgical incision methods, the patients were divided into two groups of A(underwent surround-mammary areola incision surgery)and C(underwent conventional radial incision surgery)with 105 cases each. The operation-related data including the occurrence of postoperative complications and breast aesthetics were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in operation time, intraoperative blood loss and incision length between the two groups(P>0.05).The first stage healing rate of the incision in group A was higher than that in group C(96.19%vs.81.90%)(P<0.05).The postoperative incision healing time and hospital stay were shorter in group A than those in group C[(6.84±1.56)days vs.(8.59±2.31)days and(5.31±1.35)days vs.(8.04±2.18)days](P<0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications in group A was lower than that in group C(5.71%vs.17.14%)(P<0.05).At 6 months after surgery,Vancouver Scar Scale score of group A was less than that of group C[(5.48±1.52)points vs.(7.34±2.16)points](P<0.05).The breast aesthetics of group A was better than that of group C(P<0.05).Conclusion Surround-mammary areola incision surgery has the advantages of shortening the postoperative incision healing time, reducing the risk of postoperative complications, and improving breast aesthetics in the patients undergoing benign breast tumor excision.
