Objective To observe the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy(HBOT)combined with Baduanjin on elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)complicated with mild cognitive impairment(MCI).Methods Sixty elderly T2DM patients with MCI were randomly divided into control group(30 cases)and observation group(30 cases). The control group was given routine blood glucose control, health education and Baduanjin exercise once a day, five times a week. The observation group received additional HBOT three times a week, once every other day.All treatments lasted for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, the cognitive function of the two groups was evaluated by the Huashan Auditory Verbal Learning Test(AVLT)and Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)scale.Serum levels of interleukin-10(IL-10),high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hsCRP)and glucagon like peptide-1(GLP-1)were detected before and after treatment. Results The short delayed memory and long delayed memory scores of AVLT in the observation group after treatment were higher than those before treatment and the control group(P<0.05).The total score and scores of visual space and executive function, delayed memory and attention in MoCA scale of the observation group after treatment were higher than those before treatment and the control group(P<0.05).The GLP-1 level was higher and the IL-10 and hsCRP levels were lower after treatment than those before treatment in observation group(P<0.05).After treatment, the GLP-1 level was higher and the levels of IL-10 and hsCRP were lower in the observation group than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion In elderly T2DM patients with MCI,HBOT combined with Baduanjin can effectively improve the cognitive function and reduce the risk of progression to senile dementia.
