Clinical efficacy of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy combined with tracheoscopy aspiration of sputum in elderly aspiration pneumonia
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy combined with tracheoscopy aspiration of sputum in elderly patients with aspiration pneumonia. Methods Thirty-eight elderly patients with aspiration pneumonia were equally randomized into two groups of A and C.The patients accepted tracheoscopy aspiration of sputum after conventional therapy in group C,while those additionally received high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy in group A.The improvement of clinical symptoms, total effective rate of treatment, indexes of arterial blood gas and adverse responses were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with group C,the disappeared time of cyanosis, breath shortness and pulmonary rales, duration of antibiotic use and hospital stay were shortened, the total effective rate of treatment was increased, and incidence of adverse responses was decreased in group A(P<0.05).Compared with before, the PaO2,SaO2 and HCO3-were increased, and PaCO2 was decreased in both groups after treatment(P<0.05),which were significantly improved in group A(P<0.05).Conclusion The high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy combined with tracheoscopy aspiration of sputum has an obvious clinical efficacy in the elderly patients with aspiration pneumonia, which can effectively improve the indexes of arterial blood gas, shorten the improvement time of clinical symptoms and reduce the adverse responses.
