Efficacy of ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block at the supra-arcuate ligament combined with shock wave therapy in treatment of low back pain
Objective To observe the efficacy of ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block at the supra-arcuate ligament combined with shock wave therapy in the treatment of low back pain. Methods The clinical data of eighty patients with low back pain were retrospectively analyzed,of whom 40 cases(group BS)were treated with ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block at the supra-arcuate ligament combined with shock wave therapy, and 40 cases(group S)were treated with shock wave therapy alone. The improvement of low back pain was evaluated with NRS pain score. The degree of lumbar dysfunction was evaluated with JOA score. The efficacy and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results Compared to before,NRS pain score was lower after treatment in both groups, which was lower in group BS than that in group S(P<0.05).Compared to before, the JOA score after treatment was higher in both groups, which was higher in group BS than that in group S(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was lower in group BS than that in group S(5.0%vs.22.5%)(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared to shock wave therapy alone, combined use of quadratus lumborum block at the supra-arcuate ligament is more effective in the treatment of low back pain, which can effectively prolong analgesic effect, alleviate the waist dysfunction, and reduce adverse reactions.
