Application of green wire rod to super-high strength steel cord
Production of green steel cord requires higher metallurgical quality of wire rod.Wire rods produced by basic oxi-dation furnace steelmaking(BOF)and green electric arc furnace(EAF)were compared.After special heat treatment,sur-face quality of green wire rod plating wire is equivalent to that of BOF.Moreover,breaking strength of steel cord produced by green wire rod is increased,RV fatigue is equivalent,wire breaking rate is significantly decreased,and production effi-ciency is improved,but Hunter fatigue needs to be further improved in high stress area.The research and development of green wire cord has great environmental benefits and market prospects.It is believed that with optimization of smelting process and adjustment of steel cord manufacturers,fatigue performance of steel cord will be improved.
