The wind and wave resistance in high state of sea has significant impact on the accuracy of speed prediction for pas-senger and roll on/roll off ships.A type of passenger roll on/roll off ship is studied in this regard.Two-dimensional and three-dimensional methods are used to predict the ship's heave and pitch motion, respectively, and the full wave direction wave drag prediction method SNNM is used to calculate the wave drag. The obtained results are compared with corresponding model test results. The research shows that when the speed is low,the results of the heave motion prediction by using two-dimensional and three-dimensional methods are close, but the difference between them develops as the speed goes up;When the speed is high, the pitch predictions from the three-dimensional method are higher than the experimental results, while those from the two-dimensional method are lower than experimental results; The wave drag increase calculated by the SNNM method is smal-ler than experiment results in long wave range. When the spectral peak period is 7 s and 9 s,the power prediction calculated ac-cording to the SNNM wave drag increase approximation is similar to the experimental value. However, for longer spectral peak period, the prediction results become smaller than experiment results; In general, the SNNM approximation results may lead to an erroneous higher speed prediction.
