The rapidly changing external environment is posing systemic challenges to the future of higher education,primarily encompassing shifts in the mission and goals of higher education,questioning of its value and function,as well as transitions in its structures and models.World higher education is currently at a crucial strategic opportunity and transformation phase,with global higher education organizations and institutions ac-tively exploring future development pathways.Therefore,conducting forward-looking global higher education fu-ture scenario research is both necessary and urgent.Taking the European regional higher education transforma-tion practices as a case study,this paper analyzes the roles and future goal paths of European universities in in-novation ecosystems,sustainable transformation,and digital transition based on policy texts released by the Eu-ropean University Association over the last five years.It summarizes the core framework of European universi-ties'2030 vision and presents three imaginative scenarios,outlining four inherent logical relationships in the process of future scenario design.Finally,it concludes the background,methodology,and significant implica-tions of the European higher education future scenario for 2030.
