The Practical Dilemma of"Involution"of Undergraduate Programmatic As-sessment and Its Optimization Path
Higher education undergraduate programmatic assessment is an important academic issue, but more importantly,it is a practical issue that needs to be put into action and will change the direction of higher education development. This paper, taking the Yunnan Annual Holistic Undergraduate Programs Assessment as a specific case, analyzes the current tendency of"internalization"of undergraduate program assessment and its practical dilemmas, such as alienation of academic goals,self-contradiction in operation, and dislocation of evaluation-construction functions. Then, this paper, from the dualistic perspective of conflicting academic ide-als and administrative demands, points out that the academic discussion of evaluation standards, the dispute over the sovereignty of higher education, and the subjective willingness to participate in the evaluation, are all subordinated to the internal logic and expectation of administration in reality, and the assessment system active-ly triggers"involution"under this dualistic interaction. Finally, based on the principle of reconciliation and compromise, this paper proposes the optimization path of the future assessment of undergraduate programs by matching quantitative monitoring and value-added evaluation, blending administrative demand and college ini-tiatives,and integrating multiple stakeholders'needs and core stakeholders'demands.
