The Classified Path of Applied Development in Universities from the Perspec-tive of the Third Mission
In the context of innovation driven knowledge economy development and industrial transforma-tion and upgrading,universities,as social entities,need to play a more direct and important role.The"third mis-sion"of western universities is generally consistent with the connotation of applied universities in China.Based on the different roles of universities in the development of regional industrial types,the diversification of paths for universities to achieve their third mission has been proposed.Combined with the actual development of high-er education in China,three types of paths for the development of applied universities have been proposed:en-trepreneurial,innovative,and participatory.Universities of different types and levels in China can choose suit-able applied development paths based on the actual situation of the universities and the needs of regional indus-trial development to enhance the applicability of the universities,making more direct and important contribu-tions to economic and social development.
