Study on the change track and influencing factors of symptom distress in patients with enterostomy
Objective:To investigate the change of symptom disturbance and its influencing factors in colorectal cancer patients undergoing enterostomy. Methods:The longitudinal study method was used to select colorectal cancer patients who underwent enterostomy for the first time in the gastrointestinal surgery department of a third grade A hospital in Jiangsu Province as the study objects. The symptom distress degree of the subjects was evaluated on the 1st day(T1)before discharge and in the first month(T2),3rd month(T3)and 6th month(T4)after discharge,so as to compare the symptom disturbance degree of enterostomy patients at different time points and analyze its influencing factors. Results:The symptom distress scores at 4 time points were T1(22.38±9.46),T2(32.56±8.38),T3(21.73±11.21)and T4(18.95±10.24),respectively Treatment stage, type of stoma, peristomal skin complications(PSCs)and required frequency of appliance changes were the influencing factors of symptom distress in patients with enterostomy. Conclusions:The trajectory of symptom distress in patients with enterostomy firstly going high then becoming low.Medical and nursing staff should pay more attention to the factors affecting the change trajectory of symptom distress in patients with enterostomy.More efficient and beneficial time-point matching intervention strategies should be given to patients at different time points in the progression of disease to reduce the level of patients'symptom distress.
