Study on Removing the Trace Water in Castor Oil Polyols by Zeolite Molecular Sieve
To mitigate the adverse effects of moisture in castor oil polyols on the appearance and insulation resistance(IR)of sealants, tests were conducted using 3 A and 4 A zeolite molecular sieves as dehydrating agents. The aim was to eliminate trace water from castor oil polyols. The study investigated the impact of moisture content in zeolite molecular sieves on the removal of trace water in castor oil polyols. The results revealed that, with a weight ratio of castor oil polyols to 3 A molecular sieve at 10∶1 and a weight ratio of castor oil polyols mixture to 4 A molecular sieve at 100∶5,effective dehydration and drying were achieved when the moisture content of 3 A molecular sieve was below 0.50%and that of 4 A molecular sieve was below 1.6%.As the moisture content of the molecular sieve increased, both 3 A and 4 A molecular sieves were ineffective in removing and drying trace water in castor oil polyols.
