Review of transportation carbon emissions research:accounting methods, influencing factors, and mechanisms
Transportation is an important sector for carbon emission reduction. This paper reviews the accounting methods, identification of influencing factors, and mechanisms of transportation carbon emissions(TCEs),which have recently become hot topics in carbon emissions reduction research.TCEs accounting methods are categorized into four methods:direct acquisition,"top-down"method,"bottom-up"method,and motor vehicle emission model. This study reviewed influencing factors of TCEs based on IPAT model and its extended model,Kaya's constant equation, and selected factors that directly influence TCEs.Moreover,it summarizes the influencing factors selected by scholars in recent years.Next, this study focused on the decoupling model, factor decomposition method,econo-metric method, and system dynamics method as part of analyzing mechanisms that determine the role of TCEs.Based on the analysis summary,it was found that the Tapio decoupling model and LM-DI method are the most widely used methods. Finally, key issues in related research are discussed. The research difficulties in this field mainly concern the optimization and unification of TCE ac-counting methods and the formation of the system for identifying influencing factors.
