Delay Propagation Control Oriented Quantification and Evaluation of Airport Ground Handling Efficiency
To evaluate airport ground handling ability to control delay propagation,a delay propagation-oriented method was proposed to quantify the Airport Ground Handling Efficiency(AGHE).Linear regression was used to calculate AGHE and its fluctuation ranges.Factors that may affect delay propagation were also considered, including other measures for delay propagation control, airport congestion and time period. An analysis of AGHE for China's 45 main airports was conducted based on flight delay data in 2019.The AGHE characteristics of airports with different levels of business under different delay levels were discussed. The relationship between AGHE and airport's delay features were further discussed. Results show that:①The busiest airports are more easily affected by the threshold that defines delay flights.②Some medium and low busiest airports can serve as buffer airports when controlling delay propagation in the air traffic network.③Airports with high efficiency tend to have significant advantages when facing propagated delay over 60 minutes.
