Traffic Collaborative Organization of the Weaving Segment of North-South Elevated Expressway and the Ground Road Network
The weaving segment is the bottleneck section of urban expressway.Lane changing and interweaving behavior of vehicles is the main reason for traffic disorder, traffic efficiency declining and safety risks increasing, which easily forms disorderly points, traffic congestions and accident blackspots. For the weaving segment with limited conditions,it is more important to take traffic organization optimization measures to alleviate congestion.Taking the weaving segment of the North-South Elevated Expressway(from the on-ramp of Beijing West Road to the off-ramp of Weihai Road)as an example, based on the characteristics and problem analysis, some traffic flow directions are restricted and the interweaving flow is simplified, the ground road network shares the bypass flow,or disperse it to other entrances to re-enter the expressway system. The traffic simulation tool is used for evaluation and comparison. The solution methods can provide reference to improvement traffic efficiency for other weaving segments.
