Identification and Evolution Analysis of Research Fields in Transportation Science Based on Bibliometrics
To classify the research branches of transportation science and identify the shifts in research hotspots and development trends over various periods, bibliometric methods and visualization software—VOSviewer and CiteSpace—are employed.By using keywords and citations as evaluation indicators, nearly 50 000 documents from 34 journals in the SCI core database related to transportation science are analyzed.Through the visualization of keyword co-occurrence,document coupling relationships, and document co-citation relationships, the research content in the transportation discipline is systematically categorized into five branches, eight research areas, and twelve main research directions.Subsequently, the development paths and trends in research hotspots for each direction are traced. This comprehensive review of transportation literature facilitates the identification of major research branches and mainstream research directions, providing significant reference points for frontier research in the field of transportation.
