Two New Species of Helvella(Pezizales,Ascomycota)Collected from the Qinling Mountains of China
This paper reports two new species of the genus Helvella,Helvella longipes and Helvella taibaiensis, discovered from the Qinling Mountains in China.H.longipes is characterized by its discoid or cup-shaped pileus in a pale and drab-gray to blackish brown color with black spots, showing a smooth surface without ribs and a 2.5-11.0 cm long stipe.H.taibaiensis carries its morphological features also revealing a discoid or cup-shaped pileus but in a uniformly smoke gray color,a smooth surface without ribs and a 2.0-3.5 cm long stipe.Macroscopic and microscopic descriptions of these two new species are provided in detail. Results derived from the phylogenetic analyses by using ITS and LSU sequences along with discussions upon how to distinguish the new species from other similar but different kinds of species by knowing their special characteristics are also given.
