Anti-Tumor Function of Active Ingredients from Paecilomyces hepiali CS-4
The present study was conducted to understand the anti-tumor activity and pharmacological mechanisms of effective ingredients extracted from Paecilomyces hepiali Cs-4.By using the mouse H22 cell line of abdominal hepatoma ascites, experimental samples were randomly divided into various groups, each containing ten mice, with or without treatments of five components;polysaccharide, adenosine, chitin, ergosterol and ergosterol peroxide. After ten days of continuous feeding, tumor tissues were taken out and body-mass detection was carried out for the calculating of tumor growth rate and organ index.Cytokine levels of IL-6,IL-2,TNF-α,IFN-γ,VEGF,AST and BUN in the mouse serum, immune responses of VEGF,P53,Bcl-2,Bax and Caspase-3 antibody in the tumor tissues and expression levels of Caspase-3,Bax,Bcl-2 and VEGF proteins were investigated.Status of cell death(apoptosis)was also measured via the TUNEL assay. Our results showed that the combined feeding of five active ingredient components of P.hepiali Cs-4 could generate a positive and multi-way effect on the anti-tumor process through regulation of immune factors in various cells.
