Chomsky's theory of generative grammar is constantly evolving, and although the theoretical models and technical methods are constantly being updated, its core theoretical assumptions include immanence, universal grammar and recursion, which are the inheritance and breakthrough of the traditional rationalist viewpoint. In recent years,Chomsky has begun to pay attention to the genetic properties of language, explore the nature and origin of language, explain the nature of language through the genetic basis of language, break the traditional metaphysical dualistic concept, promote the transcendence of traditional rationalism, and lay a solid philosophical foundation for the study of generative grammar and biolinguistics. To this end, this paper summarizes the origins of the traditional rationalist view of language, and deeply explores Chomsky's inheritance of traditional rationalism and Chomsky's transcendence of traditional rationalism.
