摘要
借助文化阐释理论,对美国剧作家尤金· 奥尼尔以东方为背景的历史剧《马克百万》存在的种种文化表征和思想意蕴进行文化诠释,分析作品中东西方文化之间的冲突与融合,论证尤金· 奥尼尔所受到的东西文化的影响贯穿着他对寻找精神归属和"诗意的栖居"家园的思考,使这部戏剧呈现出丰富的文化、文学价值.
Abstract
By means of cultural elucidatory theories, this paper is to give a cultural interpretation of diverse references and pro-found connotations conveyed in Marco Millions, a masterpiece based on the Oriental background by American playwright Eugene O' Neill, with an aim of expounding the conflict and integration of eastern and western cultures.It is to be proved that both cultural in-fluences on the playwright find thorough expression in O' Neill' s thought of pursuing sense of belonging and human homeland of"poetic habitation", which renders the play abundant cultural and literary significances.
