Nguji's Exploration of Cultural Identity from a Postcolonial Perspective
Nguji Wa Thiong'O is one of the most important African creators of postcolonial literature. His works reflect various social issues during the armed struggle of Kenya's Mau Mau Uprising and after independ-ence.Bearing the mark of a diaspora,Nguji himself not only suffers from persecution by the Kenyan govern-ment,but also is ostracized by the Western elite. Therefore, his works often elaborate on various issues in the colonial and postcolonial periods from an unstable perspective, which has high research value. The theme of this study is to explore the cultural identity of Nguji's works, mainly focusing on postcolonial criticism of two works:A Grain of Wheat and Caitaani Mutharabaini. The study focuses on the identity dilemma and body discrimination issues in novels, and analyzes Nguji's proposed cultural identity and body cognition reconstruction paths in novel creation to address these two issues.
