Feasibility Analysis of Replacing Mitchell-type Thrust Bearings with Kingsbury-Type Thrust Bearings in 320 MW Steam Turbines
In the operation of the turbine, the thrust bearing plays the role of balancing the axial thrust, ensuring the clearance between the dynamic and static blade grids, and preventing the dynamic and static from touching and grinding. In the actual production process, high temperature and wear of thrust bearing occur from time to time.In response to the problem of high temperature of the thrust bearing block of No.8 machine of a power plant, through disassembling and analysis,it was judged that it was mainly due to the high temperature of the block caused by the large load difference of each thrust block and the poor self-adjustment ability of the thrust bearing, and it was adopted that the Mitchell-type thrust bearing was replaced by Kingsbury-type thrust bearing, and after the replacement of the thrust bearing, the problem of the high temperature of the thrust bearing block was effectively improved, which ensured the safe and stable operation of the unit.safe and stable operation.
