Study on Particle Distribution in Bucket of Electric Rope Shovel during Loading and Unloading Based on DEM
The electric rope shovel,regarded as the core and source equipment of large open-pit mining undertakes the two main functions of material loading and unloading.The movement law of ore particles in the bucket during shoveling and unloading is a significant foundation for analysis of wear of the inner liner in bucket and improving the efficiency of loading and unloading operations.In this research,a typical electric rope shovel produced by Taiyuan Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd is taken as a representation.Based on the discrete element method(DEM),the distribution law of particles in the bucket during loading and unloading is analyzed.The results show that the particle distribution in the bucket during the loading process and the order of particles flowing out of the bucket during the unloading process are related to the offset distance from the bucket tooth trajectory,where the particles are in the packing state,which would provide the basis for formulating the control strategy of electric shovel loading and unloading control.
