Aiming at the problem of frequent failure of floating oil seal of sprocket wheel assembly in a coal enterprise, the structure and working mechanism of floating oil seal are analyzed, and it is concluded that O-ring is the main part of sprocket wheel assembly which often fails, and wear domain bums, lubrication leakage, and aging and misalignment are the main forms of failure, and it is further analyzed that the main factors for the failure of O-ring are the setting of installation preload and the intrusion of coal dust. With the help of ANSYS wOrkbench finite element simulation and analysis software to complete the micro-analysis of the floating oil seal, the results show that the pre-tensioning state and the O-ring stress and deformation have a direct relationship, the greater the pre-tensioning force, the greater the O-ring pre-stress,which will exacerbate the elastic deformation of O-rings and wear;;pre-tensioning force is too small, lubrication leakage, and the actual work situation coincides.
