Performance Testing of Fasteners in Electronic Products
Taking TA T4 series stainless steel bolts of PEM?brand as an example, the performance of the bolts was analyzed in depth through a series of standardized tests, including appearance and dimensions, chemical composition, mechanical properties,hardness,torque-clamping force, impact test, salt spray test and decarburization layer test. The test results showed that the stainless steel bolts had an average tensile strength of 830.5 MPa,an average hardness of 90.3 HRB,a clamping force of 245 N,an impact energy of 26.5 J,a salt spray test rating of 9,and a depth of decarburization layer of 0.04 mm.The stainless steel bolts of the type selected for the study showed superiority in all the performance tests when compared to the self-buttoning fasteners and the inserts for plastics. The results of the study indicate that material selection, manufacturing process, thread design, preload and environmental conditions are the key factors affecting the performance of fasteners.
