Synthesis of N-tert-Butylamides from tert-Butyl Nitrite and Nitriles
A method for the direct conversion of nitriles to N-tert-butyl amides using tert-butyl nitrite through a Ritter-type process was developed. The optimal reaction conditions are as follows:trifluoracetic acid was used as the catalyst;molar ratio of tert-butyl nitrite to benzonitrile was of 1.5∶1.0;a reaction temperature was of 65 ℃;1,2-dichloroethane was used as the solvent;a reaction time was of 8 h.Fifteen N-tert-butyl amides were synthesized under these conditions. This method had advantages including mild condition, simple operation and high yield.
