Research on the Optical Properties and Electrical Conductivity of Citric Acid/Ethylenediamine Carbon Dots
In order to construct new optical materials for biological and medical labelling, citric acid/ethylenediamine-derived carbon dots CA/EDA-2 were constructed through one-step hydrothermal reaction with citric acid as the carbon source, ethylenediamine as the surface passivation agent and heteroatom N donor. The surface functional groups, optical properties and conductivity of CA/EDA-2 were studied through the measurements of infrared spectrum, confocal imaging and conductivity. It was indicated that CA/EDA-2 were composed of hydroxyl, amino and carbonyl groups, the citric acid/ethylenediamine-derived carbon dots had stable fluorescence performance in the optical analysis and could target mitochondria in HUVEC cells confocal imaging, giving 0.90 as the Pearson's coefficient.Meanwhile, the conductivity of carbon dots CA/EDA-2 was sensitive to the environmental pH,exhibiting better conductivity in a weakly alkaline environment. When the pH value was 8.0,the peak conductivity value was 8.43 mS/cm.
