Study of Cu2+Loaded Activated Carbon for Removing Methylene Blue by Microwave
Using modified activated carbon(PAC)by microwave(MW)as raw material, series of Cu2+loaded activated carbons were prepared by continuous MW induction, and the adsorption capacity of Cu2+loaded activated carbon for methylene blue(MB)was studied. The results show that the adsorption capacity of Cu2+loaded activated carbon for MB fits the second-order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm adsorption model, indicating a combination of physical and chemical adsorption.Compared with PAC,the adsorption capacity of Cu2+loaded activated carbon(1st-Cu@AC)for MB increased by 12.15%,demonstrating the modification effect of MW induction.Through FTIR,BET surface area, and XRD analysis, the Cu2+loaded activated carbon was related to-OH group, and MW makes the surface of the activated carbon supported with copper oxide and cuprous oxide. After six consecutive MW induction, the BET surface area(SBET)of 6th-Cu@AC was still as high as 757.54 m2/g.
