Determination of Nicotine Chiral Isomers by Normal Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatography
A method was establishedfor the determination of chiral nicotine isomers,R and S,using normal phase high performance liquid chromatography(NP-HPLC).UniChiral CDN column(4.6 mm ×250mm,5 μm)and UV detector were used for analysis.The mobile phase consisted of 90%n-hexane and 10%ethanol(with 0.1%diethylamine),the column temperature was 30 ℃,and the detection wavelength was 254 nm.The results indicated that the method exhibited good linearity within a concentration range of 10~500 μg/mL.Precision and recovery rate met the quantitative requirements.The method is simple,highly specific,accurate and stable,thus can be used for the determination of chiral nicotine isomers.
