Study on the Properties of Porous Asphalt Mixtures Containing Recycled Aggregate and Fly Ash
The effects of recycled concrete aggregate(RCA)and type C fly ash on the overall properties of porous asphalt mixture are studied in this paper.Mixtures of different combinations of RCA and fly ash were prepared in the laboratory and tested for a variety of performance param-eters,including porosity, permeability,Marshall stability, indirect tensile strength, water stability, and macroscopic structural depth. The re-sults show that the addition of RCA or fly ash to the drainage asphalt mixture slightly reduces the porosity, permeability and surface macrostruc-ture depth of the mixture. The substitution of RCA for 10%granite aggregate in porous asphalt mixture leads to the reduction of mixture stabili-ty,indirect tensile strength and other properties. However, further substitution of the mineral filler with fly ash in the mixture helped to coun-teract the negative effects of RCA and brought the mechanical properties of the mixture with an RCA of 10%to comparable levels to those of the control mixture.
