Experimental Study on the Effect of Moisture Content on the Mechanical Performance of Bamboo Scrimber
Experimental research and analysis were conducted on the size variation and mechanical properties of bamboo scrimber in a humid environment.The soaking,three-point bending method and statistic analysis method was using,and the changes in width and thickness expan-sion rate,longitudinal flexural strength,and flexural elastic modulus of bamboo scrimber after soaking for different times were studied,and the effect of moisture content on the flexural performance and expansion rate of bamboo scrimber with other bamboo materials or bamboo species was compared.The experiment shown that with the increase of moisture content,the width and thickness of bamboo scrimber increase rapidly and thickness expansion is greater than width expansion,the experiment also shown that with the increase of moisture content,the flexural strength and elastic modulus of bamboo scrimber decrease.The results show that the moisture content has a significant impact on the size variation and mechanical properties of the bamboo scrimber,but the degree of influence on different performance parameters varies.
