Research on Tunnel Surrounding Rock Classification Based on the MLS Method
This paper utilizes the Moving Least Squares(MLS)method, selecting uniaxial saturated compressive strength Rc,rock quality des-ignation RQD,rock mass integrity coefficient Kv,structural surface strength coefficient Kf,and groundwater seepage volume w as evaluation in-dicators to establish a tunnel surrounding rock classification model based on the MLS method. The model is validated using the measured sur-rounding rock data from the first phase of the Guangzhou Pumped Storage Power Station. The results show that the classification results based on the MLS method are generally consistent with the actual surrounding rock categories and align well with the classification results of the Terza-ghi-Ideal Point method and the Catastrophe Progression method, thereby validating the feasibility of using the MLS method for surrounding rock classification. Finally, the established MLS surrounding rock classification model is applied to classify the surrounding rock of the Xihualing Tunnel on the Zhuyong Expressway in Zhejiang Province.Calculations and analyses reveal that the determined surrounding rock categories for the selected tunnel sections are consistent with the design categories, further proving the rationality and effectiveness of this method for tunnel surrounding rock classification. The surrounding rock classification model based on the MLS method can provide a reference for subsequent tun-nel design and construction.
