Based on the data of China Labor Dynamics Survey(CLDS)in 2014 and 2016 and the data of city housing price at prefecture-level,thispaper examines the relationship between rising house prices, income inequali-ty and household consumption structure upgrading using a two-way fixed effects model. The results show that:(1)Rising housing price inhibits household consumption structure upgrading, and mainly reduces the proportion of household development consumption. From the perspective of heterogeneity, rising housing price has a more obvious inhibitory effect on the consumption structure upgrading of single-suite,eastern regions and households with a higher proportion of male children and the elderly people;(2)Income inequality inhibitshousehold consumption structure upgrading, and mainly reduces the household consumption structure upgrading level in low-income,rural and eastern and central regions;(3)Rising housing prices indirectly inhibits household consumption structure up-grading by exacerbating income inequality, but the mediating effect of income inequality is only significant in the eastern region, but not in the central and western regions.
