After the 2008 global financial crisis,the world economy has been sluggish for a long time,and gov-ernments across economies are focusing on improving the business environment as a means of promoting economic recovery.Whether improving the business environment will help reduce the risk of economic and financial crises and whether it will help the economy recover faster are all issues worth studying.This paper uses data from more than 100 economies in 1960-2021 from the World Bank and other databases to study the correlation between the busi-ness environment and the economic and financial crises.This paper finds that improving the business environment can significantly reduce the likelihood of an economy falling into a currency crisis,a banking crisis,a systemic crisis and an economic crisis,and decrease the time for an economy to get out of crisis.Using different proxy variables,this conclusion still holds.
