On Ekphrasis in Kazuo Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun
Currently, academic discussions on Klara and the Sun mainly focus on the literary interpretation of robot narra-tives,technological ethics, medical humanities, and other perspectives, while less attention has been paid to the visual ele-ments and aesthetic sources of the novel. From the perspective of ekphrasis, this paper explores the application of painting techniques in the construction of the visual landscape of this novel, including the"fragmented"composition in Cubism style, the reproduction of Hopperesque character images, and the metaphorical expression of light and shadow. These visual art forms not only enrich the aesthetic appeal and artistic expressiveness of the novel, but also carry Kazuo Ishiguro's real concerns about human conditions and spiritual life in the age of technology.
