A Survey on the Current Situation of Ideological and Political Teaching Competence Among University Foreign Language Teachers—A Case Study of Universities in Jiangxi Province
This study,based on the theoretical framework of the"Onion Model of Competencies"and using the Delphi method,divides the ideological and political teaching competence of university foreign language teachers into five dimen-sions.From these dimensions,a questionnaire was developed to assess the current state,influencing factors,and improve-ment strategies for foreign language teachers'ideological and political teaching competence.The survey results indicate that:(1)Overall,the ideological and political teaching competence of university foreign language teachers is at a good lev-el,with strengths in teacher ethics and teaching skills,while their knowledge structure and research competence are rela-tively weaker;(2)Age,years of teaching experience,and academic title have significant effects on the teaching compe-tence;(3)The main ways for teachers to enhance their ideological and political teachingcompetence are through independ-ent study of national policies and guidelines for ideological and political education,participating in relevant training,and engaging in course construction projects.Based on the above findings,the study proposes recommendations for improving teachers'ideological and political teaching competence from the perspectives of both individual professional development and external environmental optimization.
