A Study on the Influence of Family Function on Empathy in Young Children
Empathy is the foundation and starting point of moral education, playing a crucial role in children's social devel-opment.This study conducted a survey of 604 parents and their young children in Jiangxi Province to explore the impact of family function on children's empathy. The results indicate that:(1)Overall,the family function of the children was rela-tively high, with the communication dimension scoring the highest and the problem-solving dimension the lowest;(2)The overall level of children's empathy was high, with emotional understanding scoring the highest and parallel pain the lowest;(3)There was a significant positive correlation between the overall level of family function and empathy;(4)The commu-nication and emotional involvement dimensions of family function had significant regression coefficients for empathy,sug-gesting that better parent-child communication leads to stronger empathy in children, and higher emotional involvement be-tween parents and children results in stronger empathy. Therefore, parents should actively fulfill their roles, providing posi-tive models for their children;engage in activities suited to children's developmental levels to enhance their empathy;and strengthen emotional involvement to establish emotional resonance with their children.
