Enhancing Emerging Productivity through the Digital Economy—Evidence from Panel Data of 30 Provinces in China
In the context of increasingly severe global development challenges,developing the digital economy may repre-sent a crucial new pathway to advancing emerging productivity.Using panel data from 30 Chinese provinces from 2012 to 2022,this study empirically analyzes the impact of digital economy development on emerging productivity and its underlying mechanisms.The results indicate that the development of the digital economy significantly enhances emerging productivity at the provincial level in China,a conclusion robust to various tests.The optimization of innovation factor allocation and in-dustrial structural transformation are identified as critical mediating mechanisms.Further analysis reveals a positive nonlin-ear effect of digital economy development on emerging productivity.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the digital economy exerts a greater positive influence on emerging productivity in the eastern and northeastern regions of China.These findings provide insights and strategies for countries worldwide seeking to enhance emerging productivity through digital economy development and advance sustainable development.
