Study on Wear Characteristics of CFRP Ultrasonic Vibration Cutting Tools
In order to reveal the influence of the different vibration directions on the tool wear in CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic)cutting, tangential and radial vibration were applied separately to the tool to cut CFRP with different direction angles, and compared with ordinary cutting.Through theoretical analysis, different vibration directions have great influence on the duty cycle and tool angle. In addition, the orientation angle also has a great influence on the bending deformation and fracture position of the fiber. The experimental results show that the tool wear value of tangential vibration cutting is generally low, which can be reduced by about 27.9%and 37.1%respectively compared with ordinary cutting and radial vibration cutting. The tool wear value of obtuse angle cutting is generally lower than that of acute angle cutting. The minimum reduction ranges of ordinary cutting, radial vibration cutting and tangential vibration cutting are about 71.8%,66.2%and 70.9%respectively.In parallel cutting or near parallel cutting, the wear width of the tool flank is relatively uniform, and its length accounts for about 2/3 of the overall wear length.Tangential vibration cutting is beneficial to prolong the service life of the cutting tool.
