Genome size estimation of 10 farm varieties of Camellia oleifera in Jiangxi Province based on flow cytometry
Farm varieties of Camellia oleifera have high economic value and local characteristics, which are important resources for breeding of C.oleifera.At present, there were few researches on the genetic basis of farm varieties of C.oleifera.In order to clarify the genome size of farm varieties of C.oleifera in Jiangxi Province and provide a basis for genetic evaluation and rational utilization of C.oleifera cultivars, the genome size of 10 farm varieties of C.oleifera in Jiangxi Province was determined by flow cytometry. The results showed that the genome sizes of Baipizhongzi,Guanyintao,Maogangdaguo,Zhenzhuzi,Ershuitao,Shuangjianghongpi,Ganpingcha,Shishihongpi,Suizhongzi, and Xiajiang were respectively:5 480.06,8 531.31,8 751.11,8 545.69,8 422.12,8 756.84,8 477.28,8 591.20,8 763.49,8 684.92 Mb.The genome size of Baipizhongzi was closed to two-thirds of that of other farm varieties, while the genome size of Ganshi 84-8 was similar to that of other farm varieties except for Baipizhongzi.
