Study of life history and occurrence regularity of Curculio chinensis
This study was combined indoor observation and forest monitoring to investigate and observe the life history, and occurrence patterns of Curculio chinensis weevils in Camellia oleifera forests. The results showed that C.chinensis weevil occurs once every two years in the Jiangxi region.Adults emerged from the soil in late April and caused damage to fruits of C.oleifera.They began laying eggs on the fruit of C.oleifera in May;In July, the larvae begin to detach from the fruit of C.oleifera and enter the soil.In November, they overwinter in the soil as mature larvae until August of the second year; After the larvae pupate and emerge in the soil, the adults continue to live in the soil until emerging from the soil by late April of the third year. The occurrence of C.chinensis was related to soil moisture, and a moist soil environment was more suitable for larvae to overwinter;C.oleifera located near shady slopes and water sources were more severely damaged by C.chinensis.
