Investigation on termite hazards in non-burning-afforestation and study on control of lure and kill integration
Non-burning-afforestation was an excellent afforestation model promoted in recent years, but it may also lead to increased termite damage due to the increase of residual materials on the site.To control the termite damage caused by non-burning-afforestation,we had developed a combination of various termite baits and insecticides, and conducted indoor toxicity testing and transmission experiments. The selected formula had been tested for its effectiveness in forest control. The results showed that:(1)the termite damage rate(62.16%)of young forests in non-burning-afforestation forest areas was significantly higher than that in burning-afforestation forest areas(27.88%)under the same conditions(P<0.05).The number of old tree stumps, the damage rate of tree stumps, and the number of dead branches on the ground in the non non-burning-afforestation forest area were significantly higher than those in the burning-afforestation forest area(P<0.01).(2)The degree of termite damage in young forests was significantly related to slope orientation and position. The rate of damage plants was:north slope>east slope≥west slope>south slope, downhill position>middle slope≥uphill position.(3)The formula Ⅰ was made of a mixture of a number of ingredients, including a chronic pesticide,a microbial agent and a Insect growth regulator, and it was the best killing effect on termites, and the effect was slow. The half dead time(LT50)was 5.10 days, and on the 10th day,the mortality rate of termites reached 100%.The baiting device consisting of a baiting kit(Formula Ⅰ),erbium material, and bamboo tube has undergone a 3-year forest baiting experiment, and the termite damage rate had significantly decreased compared to before prevention and control, with an average prevention effect(harm reduction rate)of 91.76%.The termite infestation in non-burning-afforestation young forests was severe,so the density of trapping pits could be set according to the termite infestation rate, and trapping devices could be buried once a year to control termites for a longer period of time.
