Geological Characteristics and Prospecting Significance of Cu-Ag Deposit in Shishan Mining Area of the Mengshan Ore Field,Western Jiangxi
In order to explore the metallogenic characteristics and prospecting potential of copper polymetallic deposits in the Mengshan ore field, preliminary studies were carried out in the Shishan copper-silver mining area by means of field structural-mineralization-alteration geological surveys, induced polarization profile measurements, etc. The results show that the Shi-shan copper-silver deposit is a skarn-type deposit.Affected by the multi-stage intrusions of the Mengshan pluton, there is a zoning law from the pluton outwards, presenting the alteration granite zone →skarnization zone →marbleization zone →marbleized limestone zone.Skarnization, fluoritization, chloritization and marbleization are the main alteration characteristics. The contact zone between the Mengshan pluton and carbonate rock strata, the interlayer detachment surfaces formed by frequently interbedded lithologic interfaces, and the structural fracture zones between rock strata are the main ore-conducting and ore-controlling interfaces. The induced polarization intermediate gradient profile measurements show that the high-resistance and low-polarization induced polarization anomalies are important geophysical characteristics for searching for copper polymetallic deposits. The geological and geophysical prospecting indicators for copper polymetallic deposits in the Mengshan area have been summarized. The research results indicate that there is a good potential for searching for skarn-type copper polymetallic deposits in the carbonate rock strata in the outer contact zone of the Mengshan pluton, which provides implications for the exploration of similar deposits.
